Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy
The Master of Music (M.M.) in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy graduate program at Carthage provides opportunities for creative endeavor, inquiry, and investigation into the field of professional voice use in music theatre style. This 10-month full-time master’s program will feature seminar courses in vocal pedagogy, application and integration courses in voice performance in music theatre style, and analysis courses that focus on repertoire and rehearsal techniques.

Guest Artists
Carthage is uniquely situated in the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor, providing easy access to guest artists from some of the world’s top stages. Musical theatre students can develop relationships with directors and casting agents while they complete their degrees. Recent guests include JC Clementz (Milwaukee casting director), Stacey Flaster (Chicago casting director), Peter Amster (Chicago and Florida director), Tonnocus McClain (national tour of Lion King), Bob Mason (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre), Jeff Whiting (Broadway director/choreographer), and James Gray (Broadway director/choreographer).
Internships
From arts administration to performance opportunities, Carthage students can dive into internships in Chicago theatre! Internships provide opportunities for students to develop performance skills, arts administration skills, and technical theatre skills. Carthage musical theatre students have been offered internships with organizations in Chicago such as the Goodman Theatre, Second City, the Metropolis Performing Arts Center; in Milwaukee at First Stage Milwaukee and Wisconsin Music Conservatory; and in Shanghai, China, at iMusical.
